from U.N.E.S.C.O. 1990 Demographic Year Book and The Annual Register
1992 (data for 1990), include birth rates, death rates, life expectancies,
and Gross National Products for 97 countries. The variables are defined as
follows:
birth rate: number of live births per 1,000 population size
death rate: number of deaths per 1,000 population size
infant death rate: number of infant deaths per 1,000 of
population under 1 year old
male life expectancy: life expectancy (in years)
at birth for males
female life expectancy: life expectancy (in years)
at birth for females
GNP per capita: Gross National Product per capita (in U.S.
dollars)
