COURSE REQUIREMENT PERCENT OF GRADE
Midterm Examination:This exam will consist of identification items and short essays.  Study questions for this exam will be provided about a week before the test.  The exam will include only material covered in the study questions, covering lectures and readings assigned through April 26.

Final Examination: Similar format to midterm.  Cumulative exam.  The exam will include only material covered in the study questions.

Three short papers (4-5 pages):  Write about one of the books assigned for the course (James, Fancher, Skinner, Freud, Horney). 
OR
Journal:  Write twice weekly about class material, including books, relation to other courses, personal observations about the concepts presented, etc.
30%
Class participation: Attendance at specified discussion times is required.  Class discussions will focus on the five books and short readings, as assigned in the course outline.  Individuals will take responsibility for discussion on one of the days indicated.  You will choose which of the discussions you will lead.  You should meet with me in the week before the discussion to consider ways to spark interesting conversation and facilitate active participation in the discussion.

All papers will be typed and are due in class on the dates indicated.  Your journal should also be kept in word-processing format so that it can be printed when I ask for them.
