Gustavo Fares is a native of Argentina. He holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master in Foreign Languages, a Master in Painting and Lithography from West Virginia University, and a J.D. Law Degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. As Professor of Spanish and Chairperson of the Spanish Department and Co-Advisor of the Latin American Studies Program at Lawrence University his primary responsibilities include teaching all levels of the Spanish language and Latin American literature, visual arts, and culture courses, and advising students. Dr. Fares research interests include the work of the
Mexican writer Juan Rulfo, Mexican literature and culture, contemporary Argentinean women writers, Latin American
culture, and cultural studies. He is a former chairperson of the
Advanced Placement Development
Committee for Spanish Language and Literature from
the College Board.
