Monday, March 31

I covered section 1.1 in the text.

Here are excel spreadsheets for a couple of the examples I showed. The grocery store purchases example is a basic example to demonstrate how to construct a histogram. The U. S. population example (exercise 1.34) demonstrates the use of a relative frequency histogram to compare two data distributions.

The homework problems for today are exercises 1.7, 1.12, 1.18, 1.24, and 1.40 from the end of section 1.1. Solutions to these problems are available here.

Wednesday, April 2

I covered section 1.2 and 1.3 up to page 78.

I used a set of IQ scores as the primary data for most of the examples I showed in class. The spreadsheet with that data is here.
