Here are excel spreadsheets for a couple of the examples I showed. The grocery store purchases example is a basic example to demonstrate how to construct a histogram. The U. S. population example (exercise 1.34) demonstrates the use of a relative frequency histogram to compare two data distributions.
The homework problems for today are exercises 1.7, 1.12, 1.18, 1.24, and 1.40 from the end of section 1.1. Solutions to these problems are available here.
I covered section 1.2 and 1.3 up to page 78.
