Midterm exam topics
The midterm exam will focus on concepts only: I will ask no questions about OpenGL on the exam. To prepare for the exam you should review chapters 3 through 7.
Here is a list of topics you need to review:
- Mapping points and vectors from one coordinate frame to another (object to world, world to eye).
- Constructing matrices to represent affine transformations, including rotation, scaling, and translation.
- Texture mapping - how do textures get applied to objects?
- Lighting models: be prepared to discuss how ambient, directional, and specular lighting works.
- Modeling simple shapes: how do we construct shapes like the sphere, the torus, the cylinder, and the cone?
