A December 2005 graudate of Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, I have just completed my student teaching semester in the Appleton Area School District, Appleton, Wisconsin.

Lawrence has prepared me for teaching music in the public schools through its excellent teacher education program and music conservatory. My professors have pushed me to become the best musician I can be in order to be an outstanding teacher. My work with the Lawrence University String Project and Collegiate Music Educators National Conference from freshman year on have also contributed to my solid musical and pedagological foundation.

During my student teaching semester, I had the opportunity to teach grade levels four through twelve with master strings teachers from the Appleton Area School District. Gary Wolfman is a frequent guest clinician at state honors festivals and an active contributor to the Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance project. Carrie Gruselle is an accomplished composer and arranger of elementary and middle-level string music. Several of her selections now appear on state festival and best-seller lists.

My student teaching experience was a bit unique in that one of my cooperating teachers had to have emergency surgery three weeks into the year. With the help of a string of non-musical subs, I took over his program for the next six weeks, including the annual all-city high school Strings Festival and our first concert.
