I have recently completed my student teaching experience in Appleton, WI, and graduated from Lawrence University with a degree in Music Education. My teaching certification will be in Instrumental Music Education (grades K-12). I am interested in finding a position as an orchestra director and/or string specialist.

Throughout my education I have had many opportunities to develop my teaching and directing skills. The ASTA String Project, Lawrence University, enabled me to start teaching large ensembles and small groups beginning in my sophomore year of college. The String Project gave me the opportunity to develop my teaching style and skills, and to become comfortable directing mixed instrument ensembles as well as building quality relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

My interest in music education and love of working with kids was enhanced by the experience of camp counseling at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the Michigan ASTA String Camps. During both of these experiences I developed strong relationships with campers as well as assisted with rehearsals and taught small group classes. Camp counseling allowed me to develop a rapport when working with kids and helped me to mature and grow as a teacher/role-model.

I am interested in finding a string teaching position where I can put the teaching skills that I have developed to use in serving the community as a whole as well as the individual students in the string program. I hope to impart my passion about music education through my enthusiasm and my leadership in the classroom.
