LARY Buddy Program Coordinator
The LARY Buddy Program Coordinator oversees the LARY Buddy program (a mentorship program for at-risk youth) at Edison Elementary School. They are responsible for recruiting volunteers for the program and making matches between the elementary school students and Lawrence students with the assistance of the counselor at Edison. The LARY Buddy Coordinator must also remain in contact with the counselor throughout the year. Additionally, this person helps train all Lawrence students who participate in this program and planning at least one LARY event per term. The VITAL Coordinator is responsible for managing the Volunteers in Tutoring at Lawrence program (tutoring for community k-12 students). They are also responsible for recruiting Lawrence students to be tutors and working with parents of tutees to maintain a database for tracking involvement and basic information for both tutors and tutees. They additionally keep the VCSC resources available to tutors up to date and plan one event for the tutors per term. The Student Organization Liaison is responsible for remaining in contact and meeting on a regular basis with organizations that have service as part of their mission. They will co-advise the LU Service Council with the Volunteer Programs Assistant to bring members of student organizations that focus on service to establish connections for upcoming service projects. This person also coordinates service opportunities for organizations and helps to pair community agencies with student organizations. The Events Coordinator works closely with other student staff members to plan at least one large event per term as well as at least one Saturday of Service per month. The Events Coordinator is a mentorship position and works closely with a freshman assistant to help them learn about the VCSC and the position. Social Justice Programs Coordinator
The Social Justice Programs Coordinator works closely with the VCSC staff to promote community service throughout the Lawrence community by advocating for social justice and change. They are responsible for planning or assisting student organizations on one awareness week per term and for at least two social justice related programs per term. The Social Justice Programs Coordinator also focuses on recruiting volunteers from the Lawrence community to volunteer in the outside community.
