What: Lawrence Assistance Reaching Youth (LARY) Buddies are matched with Edison Elementary students to provide them with extra help and support both in and out of the classroom. As a LARY Buddy, you can do everything from working on homework, to playing games, to attending class with your mentee.
When: One hour each week at a time decided upon by you, your Buddy, your Buddy's teacher and parents.
Where: Edison Elementary, only four blocks North of campus on Meade St.
Who: As a LARY Buddy, you will be mentoring elementary students who are in need of extra help due to familial difficulties, learning disabilities or social problems.
Why: The children enrolled in the LARY Buddy program need special attention from a Lawrence student like you. Your guidance and support will make a difference in the lives of these kids.
How: APPLY NOW by simply completing the online LARY Buddy Application Form to become a LARY Buddy, or print the paper copy here.
*Please note that to become a LARY Buddy mentor you will also be asked to complete a Background Check form which will be sent to you via campus mail as soon as we receive your application (either electronically or in hard copy). Once you fill out the Background Check form, you must return it to the VCSC (stop into Raymond House, or campus mail your application to: VCSC, Raymond House) before your application will be considered for acceptance into the LARY Buddy Program.
