For February 2010, the VCSC has chosen to recognize Luke Fickbohm as the Volunteer of the Month! Luke is a senior at Lawrence, but has been involved in volunteerism since freshman year. He joined the Lawrence Assistance Reaching Youth (LARY) Buddy program this year, and mentors a first-grade student at Edison- logging over 20 hours for the program. Luke also actively works at Habitat for Humanity, facilitating partnerships with LU volunteers, organizing builds in the community, and presenting volunteer speakers to spread awareness of Habitat. He is very accountable and responsible in his role as a volunteer, serving as a great example to the Lawrence community. Congratulations Luke! |

Please join us in congratulating Marc Deheeger for being selected as the VCSC Volunteer of the Month for January 2010! Marc is a junior Biology Major at Lawrence. Marc took initiative in organizing a service project for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this year. He coordinated a photography project around the Lawrence campus involving the Lawrence Photography Club, Lawrence students and alumni, and 5th graders from Richmond Elementary School. The kids went through a classroom instruction on how to use cameras and then proceeded to take photos in groups around the campus. It was a great success and we are all impressed with Marc’s ambition and effort. Congrats! |

Please join us in congratulating Cam Blegen for being selected as the VCSC Volunteer of the Month for November 2009! Cam is a sophomore biology major at Lawrence. He was a LARY Buddy in the past and now continues to volunteer as a mentor for Taylor at Roosevelt Middle School. Cam not only helps Taylor with his schoolwork, but goes above and beyond in helping Taylor make healthy decisions. Taylor’s family has described Cam as the most influential mentor that Taylor has had. His capacity to take volunteerism to the next level makes him stand out among Lawrentians. It is an honor to recognize Cam for his efforts. Congrats! |
