homelessness (see page 10) and even more people
throughout the world need your help. www.habitat.org |
Shack-A-Thon, is an annual event put on by the VCSC in collaboration
with the Lawrence Habitat for Humanity chapter. Various student organizations construct shacks from only scavenged or donated materials to raise money that is donated to Habitat.
Students from a wide range of organizations build and sleep in the
shacks for the duration of the event. Other activities that occur on the day of the event include poetry readings, games, raffles, trivia, and movies all related to poverty and homelessness.
Participating in Shack-a-Thon means showing your support – and this year we’ve created more ways to do so. After
the shacks are built, the real challenges begin.
Over the past six years the Lawrence University chapter of
Habitat for Humanity in collaboration with the Volunteer
and Community Service Center has raised $20,000—enough
money to co-sponsor a Habitat home—through fundraising
efforts such as Shack-a-Thon.
In our 7th Annual Shack-a-Thon, our goal is to raise $5,000
towards helping another family in need in our community.
Student Organizations looking to get involved should see the timeline below and print the necessary forms. If you have any further questions, please email: christie.m.mccowen@lawrence.edu
