Fox Cities - Kurgan Sister Cities Program

Lawrence is proud to be a founding member of the Appleton – Kurgan sister cities program. The organization is now incredibly diverse and active, developing programs in healthcare, policing, education, civic development, and disarmament.

In 1991, Lawrence University and Kurgan State University signed accords of cooperation. Since that time, 38 students have participated in one for one exchanges where each student directly enrolls in the other school; a total of 15 faculty members have spent time teaching, visiting, and learning at the other institution; and 13 Lawrentians have taught English at KSU the year after graduation.

Read the Accords of Cooperation signed most recently by former Lawrence University president Richard Warch and Rector Oleg Ivanovich Bukhtoyarov in 2002.
