The peer educators have created a number of programs that are available to all of campus. We offer a variety of programs but will outline three of them here. For more information about any of the programs listed here, please contact Jerri Kahl at the Heath and Counseling Center, and she will put you in contact with one of the peer educators.
Condom Bingo
As the name indicates, our version of Bingo is a bit different from traditional Bingo. The game is used to start a discussion involving topics of contraception, sexual assault, STDs and AIDS, and relationships. Students are given bingo cards and condoms which are used as markers. If there are more students than bingo cards teams can be made. The Peer Educator will start the game by asking questions. Teams need to place a condom on correct answer. Once a team has BINGO, the peer educator will go over the correct answers, which will start a discussion of the issues presented.

Sexual Assault
By presenting the topic of sexual assault to different groups on campus, the peer education program hopes to bring awareness to all students and help reshape the current ideas and stereotypes surrounding the issue of sexual assault. Our current programming focuses on education by talking about the myths and stereotypes of sexual assault, and how to respond to and help a victim of sexual assault.
Stress Management
There are two parts involved with this program. One is the making of stress balls, which are balloons filled with a sand and flour mixture. Students are encouraged to make as many of these as they wish. They are encouraged to keep one for themselves and if they wish to give the others away to friends. We also talk about how to deal with stress, here at Lawrence. Peer educators talk to students about what types of activities can help reduce stress, the importance of friend time, and the importance of sleep in a stressful environment.
