Psyc 210 Applied Psychology: Peer Education

Course Objectives:
- To learn all aspects of community and how campus culture is affected by
the attitudes and behaviors of its individual members
- To learn about sexual assault, alcohol and drug abuse, and related topics,
and to learn ways to empower students to deal with these issues
- To increase self-awareness of personal attitudes about these issues
- To learn how to convey information in both formal and informal settings
Class Requirements:
- Attend and participate in class discussions, read assigned material
(up to 180 points)
- Attend weekend Certified Peer Educator training or write
a paper using material from the manual (up to 100 points)
- Design and implement one class presentation on a syllabus
topic of your choice. Please include a working outline, handouts, and discussion
questions (up to 100 points)
- Write and submit each week a one page reaction
paper on how you felt about what you read, what has been discussed, or
what you learned (up to
90 points)
- Extra credit opportunities to be discussed in class.
