Psyc 210 Applied Psychology: Peer Education
(cross listed as Educ 210)

This class, carried out in conjunction with Counseling Services, prepares students to become peer educators. The focus of the class is on learning strategies for assessing and developing community, group process, and communication. Students investigate topics such as interpersonal decision-making, sexual assault, eating disorders, diversity, and substance abuse. Through assigned readings, class discussions, presentations, and guest speakers, students will develop interpersonal facilitation skills, learn aspects of community and campus culture, and collaborate in the planning of educational programs.

Practicum opportunities, available each term, allow students to continue the work begun in Psychology 210.
