The Career Center's Resource Room houses a large selection of print and multimedia career-related resources. Students, alumni, staff and faculty can select resources from among nearly 800 individual titles. Topics include self-assessment, choosing a major, what to do with different majors, occupational research, career and job directories, graduate school guides and exam preparation, internships, summer jobs, salary negotiation, transitioning from university, resume preparation, interviewing strategies, and international opportunities. Many resources can be borrowed over a weekend or longer. See Borrowing Policy for more information.
The Resource Room also holds a number of subscription-based periodicals, such as Business Week, Crain's Chicago Business, The Business Journal (covering the Twin Cities), Corporate Report Wisconsin and The International Educator.
Equiped with three lab computers and a laser printer, the Resource Room is also an excellent
location to conduct online research into career-related topics or to prepare and print résumés or cover letters. Job or graduate school applications that need to be type-written can also be completed using the Resource Room typewriter.
GRE Powerprep software is available for use on all three lab computers.
Most of the Career Center's workshops and programs are facilitated in the Resource Room. Student organizations are welcome to conduct meetings here, as well. Tours are also available for student groups, residence hall floors, or other interested parties. Contact the Career Center for more information on booking the space.
The Resource Room is open during regular office hours, except when a workshop is in session. No appointment is necessary to use the Resource Room.
