Sponsored by campus career centers and private companies to create opportunities for employers and candidates to connect.
What you will need:- A career fair (we can help you find these).
- Appropriate interview attire.
- Multiple copies of résumés
- Preferred: customized résumé (especially if you have a company with whom you want to apply in particular).
- Your introduction:
- Your name
- Your class
- Your major
- When you will be graduating
- Why you are talking to them
- Research the career fair and the organizations that interest you in particular. Most career fairs have on-line information and have direct links to the organizations that will be attending.
- To gain confidence, start with a few employers who interest you but are not your top choices. Use a firm handshake to introduce yourself.
- When you are feeling focused and articulate, go for your top choices.
- Ask recruiters for their business card - jot down key information on the back.
- One-two dates later, follow up with a thank-you letter. Include key points from your notes.
- Connect with the recruiter on LinkedIn.
