Occupational Assessment - (Know Your Options)

If you have good information about yourself and realistic information about careers and the world of work, you are able to make good decisions that are in line with your priorities. That is what the occupational assessment step is about. It is here that we ask questions like: What does an actuary do from 9 to 5? What are the requirements to be a fund raiser for a non-profit organization? Am I bound by geographic location to do this particular job? Internships, shadowing and information interviews are part of occupational assessment and serve as vehicles to test out a stereotype or romantic notion about a career. Think of this step as establishing a "game plan" for your career.
