Event security
Some campus events require additional security. These include but are not limited to:
- Public events that are expected to draw a larger general public audience than the campus community
- Events that include the use of alcoholic beverages where:
- Guest list is not regulated
- Crowd may exceed space limitations
- Outdoor events
- The nature of the program is likely to attract protesters or threatening crowd behavior
Lawrence University Security staff should always be made aware of an event that requires extra security, but they are not at the disposal of event planners to meet security needs. Extra security should be contracted out to a security company, and the organization is expected to cover the cost. LU security will assist with coordination of an outside company.
Helpful Hints:
- Think about whether or not your event needs extra security and discuss options with Jon Meyer, director of LU Security, well in advance
