To use the address book feature in WebMail:
Open WebMail.
Click on “Compose”—a new window will open.
Click on the little figure of the human head next to “To,” “Cc,” or “Bcc,” and an address book window will open.
Leave the “Display” option set to “Lawrence Directory” and enter all or part of the name you are looking for in the field on the top right of the window.
Click on the “Filter” button next to the field where you entered the name. Select an address by highlighting it and click on “To,” “Cc,” or “Bcc” to insert it in the e-mail.
Close the address book by clicking on the "x" button in the upper right corner of the pop up window.
ALWAYS use the address book BEFORE you attach any files to an e-mail. Opening the address book after you have attached files will cause the e-mail program to “unattach” any previously attached files. Use the "Attachments" button at the top right of the compose mail window to attach files. Clicking this icon will open a window that will allow you to browse to the location of the file you want to attach
When sending session logs, remember to put the following information in the subject line of the e-mail: "CTL Session Log for STUDENT LAST NAME from DATE OF TUTORING SESSION." Obviously, you should fill in the information in all caps with the last name of the student(s) who is the subject of the log (NOT the tutor!!) and the date of the tutoring session (NOT the date you are sending the log). This change is based on feedback from faculty. Putting this information in the subject line of the e-mail will enable professors to quickly find logs pertaining to particular students or dates just by scanning the subject lines in their e-mail inbox. Again, remember to attach the session log file after you have used the address book.
When sending tutor requests, please put the following information in the subject line of the e-mail: "URGENT TUTOR REQUEST: PLEASE RESPOND WITHIN 24 HOURS.” I like to mention the name of the tutee and the course in the message in case the tutor declines the request and forgets to reattach the request form (e.g., “Dear Tutor X, Please find attached a request for tutoring in PHYS 160 from Joe Student. If you can accept this request, please contact the student ASAP to arrange a time to meet and “cc” the CTL when you do so. If you must decline the request, please notify the CTL immediately and reattach the original request form. Thanks!”). In addition, remember that you should attach the tutor request form after you use the address book.
