Responding to Requests
- Requests are received by the CTL coverage desk and entered into the electronic form you receive as an e-mail attachment with the subject line “URGENT TUTOR REQUEST: PLEASE RESPOND WITHIN 24 HOURS”
- We try to assign tutoring requests in an equitable way through a list of all tutors maintained at the CTL coverage desk
- As a CTL tutor, you should check your Lawrence e-mail account frequently (at least once a day) for requests
- When you contact the student making the request, carbon-copy or “cc” the CTL and offer two possible times to meet in the next 24 hours
- If you call the student or contact him/her in person rather than sending an e-mail, please notify the CTL via e-mail that you have contacted the student on a particular date so we can maintain accurate records about which requests have been fulfilled
- If you can’t accept a request, you must notify the CTL immediately and provide a reason.
- If you turn a request down, you create a delay (which becomes especially urgent as the term progresses )
- Let your supervisor and Julie know if you are going to be unavailable to accept requests for any length of time (illness, out of town, etc.)
- If you consistently decline or fail to respond to requests, your supervisor will warn you once and then you may be asked to reconsider your commitment to the CTL
