Russian kitchens generally contain a table at which the family eats its meals. Few Russian apartments have a separate dining room, but for special occasions or when company is visiting, meals may be eaten at a table in the main room ("bol'shaia komnata"). Relatively few Russian kitchens are equipped with dishwashers or microwave ovens.
