lunch

Russian word for lunch

The second meal of the day is usually eaten around 2:00 p.m. A complete meal consists of soup, salad (often one containing meat and/or potatoes, rather than a green salad), a main course, and some kind of dessert. On special occasions, an elaborate series of appetizers will also be served. In recent years, the English word "lunch" has begun to creep into the Russian vocabulary, at least in Moscow and St. Petersburg, in such phrases as "biznes-lanch."
