women10She is the grandmother of a friend I met in a village of Bo city. I picked up a small stone from the earth and called it “wish stone”. Then I asked everyone in the house to make a wish holding the rock. Money, more money, a car, a bigger house, better job; no, I didn’t hear any of these. She thought for a while in silence but couldn’t find anything to wish for. She said she had her children and grandchildren around her, all alive. They had rice to eat, a house to live in, what else did she need. As I was about to pass the stone to the next person, she grabbed it back saying “I wish you will come back”. And I couldn’t make a better wish for myself.
