A dictionary defines classroom as: “A classroom is supposed to provide an appropriate learning environment for the students, including the seating arrangements and location of resources as well as other environmental aspects such as lighting and temperature”.  This photo shows what is called a classroom, one built by the government—like hundreds of others—as a solution to the education problem. It seemed like there were seating arrangements. I couldn’t see any resources from where I stood, behind the bars. There was enough lighting for my camera to capture the scene, so it conceivably could provide a learning environment. However, it lacked two elements of the definition: a person to teach and someone to learn. More than building classrooms, which would soon be ruins, the focus should be on providing better conditions for teachers so that they will stay in the classrooms rather than going out to the street to feed the family. A classroom without teachers and students is a waste of money since education does occur. And this poor country does not have a penny to waste.
