This photo shows a child worker on a Freetown street, who is working instead of going to school; a typical scene in Freetown. Child labor affects 70% of children in Sierra Leone. Forced labor is one of the major problems in the country. After a decade of conflict, Sierra Leone is so poor that many children are sent out to work instead of going to school. According to Afrol News on February 9, almost three quarters of all Sierra Leonean children are engaged in some kind of work such as prostitution, begging, mining, and street selling.
