Sports Information

The sports information program at Lawrence works to publicize and promote the college's intercollegiate athletics program and is responsible for compiling and reporting box scores and varsity team statistics.

Sports Media

The Sports Information Director (SID) conducts media relations for Lawrence varsity sports and the athletic department. The SID reports stats to the media; develops story ideas and profiles on players and coaches; prepares pre- and post-game and meet releases; issues hometown releases highlighting individual athletes; and announces student athletes who make All Conference, Academic All Conference, or Conference "Player of the Week." The SID also maintains the Sports News portion of the Lawrence website.

Varsity Athletics Publications

The SID works with coaches and the athletic department to produce media guides and season programs for football, basketball, and hockey. Other varsity sports have individual sports brochures that highlight season records, coaches, and team rosters. The SID also manages the Athletic Department website, where information is presented online for all 23 intercollegiate varsity sports at Lawrence.

Statistical Reporting

The SID manages the collection and reporting of statistics and game scores, serving as the head statistician for home contests of football, basketball, and baseball, and supervising stats crews for other sports. At half-time and at the end of the game or meet, the SID provides statistics to the NCAA, Midwest Conference, and opposing team. Weekly statistics are reported to the NCAA for all 23 intercollegiate varsity sports and to the Midwest Conference for the 21 conference-sponsored sports. The SID is also responsible for maintaining school records, including career, season, and individual records, and for providing up-to-date statistical information for each intercollegiate varsity sport on the Lawrence Web site (see Athletics).
