Lawrence's Howe named MCHA Player of the Week

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Marc Howe has been chosen as the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week.

Howe, a sophomore forward from Cedarburg, Wis., had three goals and an assist, as Lawrence swept a weekend series from Northland College by the scores of 4-3 and 4-0.

Howe, who attended from the Canterbury School in Connecticut, jump-started Lawrence's offense last Friday. He scored the first goal of the game and later sparked a Lawrence comeback.

The Vikings trailed 3-1 when Howe assisted on Josh DeSmit's goal to cut the deficit in half. After the Vikings tied the score at 3-3 midway through the third period, Howe scored the game-winning goal with 4:15 left in the contest.

In last Saturday's win, Howe picked up his first short-handed goal of the season to give Lawrence a 2-0 lead early in the second period.

On the season, Howe has a team-high five goals and is second on the squad with six assists. He has a team-best 11 points.

Lawrence, which resumes play Jan. 4 at UW-Eau Claire, is 3-6-1 on the season.
