APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Rebecca Hamlyn has been named the Midwest Conference Swimmer of the Week.
Hamlyn, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, won one event and placed in two others at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational on Dec. 1.
The former standout at Walnut Hills High School won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:23.59, which is the third-fastest time in the conference this season. She also took second in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.61 and placed seventh in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.20.
Hamlyn led Lawrence to a fourth-place finish in the team standings despite the fact the Vikings didn't compete in the afternoon session of the meet due to the blizzard in the area.
Lawrence doesn't return to action until Jan. 12, when it travels to UW-Whitewater for a dual meet.
