APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Evan Johnson has been named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week.
A freshman goaltender from Suwanee, Ga., Johnson was stellar between the pipes in Lawrence's 1-1 nonconference tie with Lake Forest College on Nov. 24.
Johnson, who attended the Pomfret (Conn.) School, stopped the final 22 shots, including five in overtime, taken by the Foresters. Johnson, who starred for the New England Huskies in the Eastern Junior Hockey League last season, also assisted on Marc Howe's first-period goal.
Johnson, who improved to 1-4-1 on the season, lowered his goals against average to 4.49 and raised his save percentage to .880.
The Vikings return to action this weekend with a two-game series at the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
