APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's basketball standout Carrie Van Groll has been named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Van Groll, a senior guard from Kaukauna, Wis., threatened a triple-double in Lawrence's 72-57 nonconference win over Marian College on Nov. 20. The former Little Chute High School star scored 17 points while hitting 6 of 9 shots from the floor. Van Groll also pulled down eight rebounds, handed out seven assists, and notched a pair of steals.
Van Groll is averaging a team-high 15.0 points per game through the first three games. She is second on the team at 8.3 rebounds and has a team-high 15 assists.
The Vikings improved to 2-1 with the victory over Marian and open conference play this weekend with games at Lake Forest College and Monmouth College.
