APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University football standouts Craig Ebert and Kevin Penza have been named the Midwest Conference Players of the Week.
Ebert, a junior running back from New London, Wis., was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Penza, a sophomore linebacker from Green Bay, Wis., was chosen as Defensive Player of the Week.
A former standout at New London High School, had team season highs for carries and yards in Lawrence's 37-30 loss at Macalester on Nov. 10. He carried 26 times for 150 yards, a 5.8-yard per carry average, and scored a touchdown. He also caught two passes for seven yards.
Ebert's day is the biggest for a Lawrence running back since the final game of the 2004 season, when Adrell Bullock ran 19 times for 173 yards in a win against Macalester.
A former star at Ashwaubenon High School, Penza had his fifth double-digit tackle day of season in Lawrence's 37-30 loss at Macalester on Nov. 10. Penza finished with 11 tackles, two shy of his high for the season, had one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
Penza, who also received honorable mention on the all-conference team this week, completed the season with a team-high 90 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss.
