Pikna leads list of Lawrence's all-conference soccer selections

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's soccer standout Ryan Pikna leads the list of four Vikings named to the All-Midwest Conference team.

Pikna, a senior defender from Wauwatosa, Wis., was named to the first team for the first time in his career. Joe Sluhoski, Nate Reynolds, and Nico Walker were all chosen for the second team.

Pikna, a former standout at Wauwatosa West High School, had earned second-team all-conference honors in 2004 and 2005. He finished the 2007 season with one goal and tied for the team lead with five assists for seven points. Pikna scored against Knox and had a season-high two assists vs. Lakeland.

Sluhoski was named to the all-conference second team for the second time in his career. Sluhoski, a senior forward from Rochester, Minn., also was honored in 2005. The former standout at Century High School led the team with eight goals, tied for the team lead with five assists, and finished with a team-best 21 points. Sluhoski scored a season-best two goals vs. Lakeland and had a season-high two assists vs. Knox.

Reynolds, a senior defender from Madison, Wis., was chosen for the second team for the second time. The former Edgewood High School star also earned second-team honors in 2005. A key to Lawrence's defense, he helped the Vikings allow only 1.8 goals per game.

Walker, a sophomore defender from Ashland, Ore., earned his first all-conference selection. A former standout at Ashland High School, Walker was a key defender for the Vikings picked up assists vs. Edgewood, St. Norbert, and Knox.

Lawrence finished the season with a 7-9-1 record and took fifth place in the conference with a 4-4-1 mark.
