APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University men's soccer player Paul Richter has been named the Midwest Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
The freshman goalkeeper made the most of his first career start by posting a double-overtime shutout of Clarke College in Lawrence's 1-0 victory this past Saturday. The native of Garrison, N.Y., made five saves in the victory, which was delivered on Joe Sluhoski's goal in the 109th minute.
A former standout at Haldane High School, Richter hasn't allowed a goal in 161 minutes of action this season and has a 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage.
Lawrence returns to action on Tuesday when it resumes Midwest Conference play by hosting Ripon College.
