APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball standouts Tim Salm and Tommy Schmidt have been named to the All-Midwest Conference North Division team in a vote by league coaches.
Salm (Cleveland, Wis./Sheboygan North), was named to the first team, and Schmidt (Two Rivers, Wis./Mishicot) was a second-team selection.
Salm, a senior catcher, was named to the all-conference team for the first time after leading the team in hitting with a .367 batting average in league play. He had three doubles, four homers, and 11 runs batted in in 16 conference games.
Salm, who was named the conference Player of the Week on May 6, also threw out 8 of 23 baserunners attempting to steal and posted a .986 fielding percentage.
Salm finished the season tied for top spot on the team with a .386 batting average. He smacked a team-best 11 doubles, one triple, and drove in a team-high 37 runs.
Schmidt, a senior first baseman, was named to all-conference team for all three years of Lawrence career. He missed his freshman season due to injury. Schmidt hit .328 in conference play with two doubles, four homers, and 17 RBIs. Schmidt also displayed a great glove, committing only the second error of his career this season and finishing with a .993 fielding percentage.
On the season, Schmidt hit .324 with three doubles, four homers, and 22 RBIs.
The Vikings finished the season with an 11-18 record and tied for third place in the North Division with a 5-11 record.
