APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University baseball standout Tim Salm put on a powerful display of hitting last week and was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week.
Salm, a senior catcher from Cleveland, Wis., hit .500 (7-for-14) for the week and smacked three homers, including the first grand slam of his career.
In a doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Lutheran College on April 30, the former standout at Sheboygan North High School went 3-for-3 in the opener with three runs scored and seven runs batted in. Salm hit a pair of homers in that contest, including a three-run blast and a two-run shot. In the nightcap, Salm was 1-for-3, but his one hit was the grand slam. He finished the doubleheader 4-for-6 with four runs scored and 11 RBIs.
In a doubleheader against Carroll College on May 4, Salm went 3-for-8 with a pair of runs scored. For the week, he posted a 1.214 slugging percentage, as four of his seven hits went for extra bases.
On the season, Salm is hitting a team-leading .387 with 11 doubles, one triple, five homers, and 34 RBIs.
