APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Madeline Steininger has been named the Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week.
Steininger broke her own school record in the high jump and became a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division III Championships this past Saturday.
A sophomore from New Berlin, Wis., Steininger jumped 5 feet, 5 inches, to win the event break her own school record of 5-3 at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. The 5-5 jump ties her for the sixth-best mark in the nation. Crystal Blamy of Keene State College has the highest jump in the nation this season at 5-8.
A former standout at Milwaukee Pius XI High School, Steininger also was named the Field Performer of the Week on Feb. 6.
Lawrence returns to action this weekend when it travels to the MWC Championships at Illinois College.
