Reiland's record-setting weekend helps her win MWC Player of the Week honors

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's basketball standout Caresse Reiland broke a school record and picked up a rare triple-double on her way to winning Midwest Conference Player of the Week honors.

Reiland, a sophomore forward from Wauwatosa, Wis., turned in a pair of spectacular games this past weekend. The former star at Wauwatosa East High School averaged 20.5 points, 17.0 rebounds, 7.5 blocks, 3.0 steals, and 2.0 assists in the two games.

In a 66-51 loss to Monmouth last Friday, Reiland scored 16 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and blocked a school-record 10 shots. It was the first triple-double in the conference since Monmouth College's Blaise Rogers scored 33 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and had 11 assists in a win over Grinnell College on Dec. 6, 2006. It was the first triple-double for a Lawrence player since Nate Leverence had 37 points, 15 rebonds, and 12 assists in a 131-104 win vs. Grinnell on Jan. 13, 2001.

Reiland's 10 blocked shots breaks the Lawrence record of eight, set by Robin Chapman vs. Edgewood on Jan. 22, 1983. She is one of only seven players in the nation this season to have blocked at least 10 shots in a game.

In a 71-60 loss to Lake Forest on Saturday, Reiland scored 25 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and blocked five shots.

On the season, Reiland is averaging 15.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game.

The Vikings return to action Wednesday when they play at Ripon College.
