Lawrence's Jennette named MCHA Player of the Week

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University's Nick Jennette has been named the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Week.

Jennette, a junior forward from Grand Rapids, Mich., scored six goals as the Vikings swept a weekend series from the University of Minnesota-Crookston.

In Lawrence's 5-3 victory over Crookston on Feb. 1, Jennette scored four times, tying for the second-highest game total in Lawrence history. Jennette's four goals tied Chris Henderson, who scored four times against Illinois Benedictine on Nov. 21, 1998.

Jennette scored a pair of power-play goals in a two-minute span in the second period that gave Lawrence a 3-0 lead. He then picked up his first career hat trick on an even-strength goal at 7:04 of the third that gave the Vikings a 4-1. That goal also proved to be the game-winner. Jennette got his fourth goal on an empty-netter with 21 seconds left.

Jennette, who graduated from East Grand Rapids High School and starred for the Capital Centre Pride, added a pair of goal in Lawrence's 8-7 overtime win on Feb. 2. Jennette's goal at 17:53 of the second gave Lawrence a 5-4 lead, and he scored at 11:36 of the third to tie the game at 6-6.

On the season, Jennette leads the team with 15 goals and 27 points, and he is fourth with 12 assists. He continues to move up Lawrence's career lists. Jennette now has 31 goals, moving past Mike Vernon (30) into seventh place. His 40 assists is sixth-highest, and he ranks sixth with 71 points.

Lawrence returns to action Friday when it travels to Northland College for a two-game series.
