APPLETON, Wis. -- Chuck and Cinny Reff have been given the Bob Wurdinger Athletic Service Award by the Lawrence University Department of Athletics.
The award, established in 2006-07 academic year, is presented each year to the person or persons who have shown great support to Lawrence athletics. The award was given to the Reffs before the Jan. 18 men's basketball game against Grinnell College by Director of Athletics Robert Beeman and Associate Director of Athletics Kim Tatro.
The Reffs, who are residents of Appleton, have been fixtures for years at Lawrence sporting events. Through their presence at games during all of the sports seasons, fall, winter, and spring, the Reffs have become a part of the Lawrence athletic family.
The award is named for Kaukauna's Bob Wurdinger, who served as an assistant football coach for decades and continues to be an active advocate for Lawrence athletics. Wurdinger was the first recipent of the award.
