APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University basketball standout Chris Page was named the Midwest Conference Player of the Week after a record-setting performance this past weekend.
Page, a junior forward from Amherst, Wis., broke Lawrence's single-game record when he scored 48 points in the Vikings 109-106 win at Grinnell College on Jan. 26. Page hit 20 of 24 shots from the floor and was 8 of 12 from the foul line. He also had nine rebounds and a pair of steals.
Page, a former star at Amherst High School, broke the record of 47 set by Jason Holinbeck at Grinnell on Jan. 21, 2005. His 20 field goals is tied for the second-highest game total in school history. The record of 21 is held by Holinbeck and Dick Schultz.
In Lawrence's 84-77 win at Illinois College on Jan. 25, Page scored seven points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. He started his week with three points and four rebounds in Lawrence's 81-78 victory over No. 20 UW-Oshkosh.
On the season, Page is averaging 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while shooting 62.4 percent from the floor.
Lawrence, which is 13-1 on the season, returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to St. Norbert College.
