Lawrence's Goodson, Reichel earn all-region softball honors

APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University softball standouts Alex Goodson and Jenna Reichel have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region team.

Goodson was a second-team selection, and Reichel made the third team.

Goodson (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield), a freshman who was selected as a designated player, hit .420 with 10 doubles and four triples, and she set school season records with seven homers and 43 runs batted in, which also led all Midwest Conference players.

The former Plainfield High School star was tops among Midwest Conference players with a .864 slugging percentage and led the league in triples with four.

Reichel (Madison Lake, Minn./Mankato East), a sophomore third baseman, sparked the Lawrence offense from the lead-off spot. She led the team with a .426 batting average and had a pair of doubles and 11 RBIs to go with her team-high 36 runs scored, which was eighth-best in the nation in runs per game. She also swiped 15 bases in 16 tries this season.

This marks the 11th consecutive season Lawrence has had at least two players selected to the all-region team.

Lawrence finished the season with a 15-12 record.
