Lawrence University Students Collect $15,000 for American Cancer Society    


     APPLETON, WIS. ‹ Lawrence University students exceeded their goal
by 25% over the weekend, raising more than $15,000 for the American
Cancer Society at their second annual "Relay for Life."  
     Nearly 200 students participated Saturday, Feb. 26 as members of 18
teams. Each team paid $150 to register for the event and individual team
members collected pledges.  During the seven-hour event, members of each
team took turns walking or jogging on a track.
     Event organizer Erika Lindwall said they had hoped to raise $12,000
at this year's relay.  The students raised $8,000 at last year's
inaugural event. All proceeds will be donated to the local chapter of
the American Cancer Society.
