Lawrence University Names New Library Director 

     APPLETON, WIS. --  Susan Richards has been named director of Lawrence
University's Seeley G. Mudd library.  She will oversee the management of the
library building, its collections and its services.
     Richards brings more than 16 years of library experience to Lawrence,
including the past four years as the director of library services at Western
State College in Gunnison, Colo.  She spent two years as the assistant
director at the University of Vermont and also has held positions at the
libraries at South Dakota State University and Morningside College in Iowa.
     A native of Franklin, Penn., Richards earned a bachelor's degree in
history at Grove City College and a master's degree in history at Clarion
University.  She earned her master of library science at Kent State
University and is completing her Ph.D. in American history at the University
of New Hampshire.
