Midwest Young Artists Youth Orchestra Featured in Concert with Pianist
Michael Kim

     	APPLETON, WI  Considered one of finest youth orchestras in the nation,
the Midwest Young Artists Youth Orchestra will be featured in concert,
Friday, April 2, 8:00 p.m., in the Lawrence Memorial Chapel, with
Lawrence assistant professor of music, Michael Kim, piano, and the
Lawrence Chorale. The program will include works by Beethoven and
Respighi. Tickets will go on sale Monday, March 29 at the Lawrence Box
Office.

     	Regarded as one of Canadašs most distinguished pianists, Michael Kim
has been a prizewinner of the Scottish, Leeds and Ivo Pogorelich
International Piano Competitions and was the grand prize winner of the
Canadian Music and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation National Radio
Competitions.  A 1989 graduate of the University of Calgary-Canada with
a piano performance degree, Kim went on to his doctorate at The
Juilliard School, where he won the Vladimir Horowitz scholarship.  Kim
has performed with symphonies all over the world including Toronto,
Vancouver, Regina, London and Milwaukee.  His performances have been
broadcast on CBC, BBC and NPR, and he has toured the United Kingdon with
the Royal National Scottish Orchestra.  Kim was most recently awarded
the distinguished 1999 Sammy Award by the Fox Valley Arts Alliance.

     	Tickets are $4 for adults, seniors and students. They may be purchased
at the Lawrence Box Office, 115 S. Drew St., Monday-Saturday, 12:30-5:30
