Lawrence University Associate Professor of Psychology Gerald Metalsky has been appointed associate editor of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, a flagship publication of the America Psychological Association. The quarterly journal publishes the latest research covering the causes of mental disorders, including depression, schizophrenia, eating disorders and addictions, among others. "What's exciting is as associate editor, I'll get to steer the field as to what's being published in the premier psychopathology journal," said Metalsky, who has previously served as a consulting editor to the publication. "The Journal of Abnormal Psychology is the clinical psychologist equivalent to the New England Journal of Medicine." Metalsky joined the Lawrence faculty in 1992 after spending five years as a faculty member in the psychology department at the University of Texas. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of California-Berkeley and his doctorate in clinical psychology at the University of Wisconsin.
