Ñ Former Ms. Magazine editor Barbara Findlen will examine the new face of feminism in an address Thursday, April 17 at 8 p.m. in the Wriston Art Center auditorium as part of the Lawrence University Downer Feminist Council's annual Women's Week celebration. There is a 50-cent admission charge at the door. Findlen, who says she joined the feminist movement in 1975 at the age of 11, will discuss the latest activist efforts, why women become involved in the feminist movement and the issues they face. In 1995, Findlen edited "Listen Up: Voices from the Next Feminist Generation," an anthology of essays by young feminists. Other Women's Week programming includes a screening of the film "GirlsTown" on Monday, April 21 at 8 p.m. in the Wriston Art Center Auditorium. The movie, which is free of charge, looks at a group of friends struggling to cope with the death of a friend who commits suicide after being sexually assaulted. Three short plays dealing with sexual harassment, written and performed by Lawrence students, will be staged Tuesday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. in the Coffeehouse of the Memorial Union. The performance is free and open to the public. On Thursday, April 23 at 7 p.m., Lawrence students will conduct a poetry reading in Colman Hall, Room 107. The reading will feature both original student pieces as well as works by the students' favorite feminist authors.
