At last year's Lawrence Honors Convocation, Lavender was elected to Mortar Board, the national honor society that recognizes outstanding leadership, scholarship and service, and was presented the Tank Award as the junior classUs top geology student. She serves as a Star Key ambassador for campus visitors and sits on the Board of Trustees Committee on Student Affairs. Lavender was selected for the all-USA college academic team from more than 1,200 nominated students. A panel of judges - all educators - based their choices on grades, academic honors, leadership roles on and off campus and students' use of their talents beyond the classroom.
