For Immediate Release April 2, 1996 Lawrence University Cabaret Features International Cuisine, Entertainment APPLETON, WIS. - Culinary delights from around the world along with an array of international entertainment highlight the 21st annual Lawrence University International Cabaret Sunday, April 14. The gala event, featuring dishes from their native countries prepared by Lawrence international students, begins at 6 p.m. in the Buchanan Kiewit Recreation Center on the Lawrence campus. This year's buffet-style menu features both Turkish and Swedish salads, a Dutch vegetable dish and a Turkish rice soup. Entrees include a Thai dish, as well as chisou pork (a Chinese dish), Indian chicken and jellof (a Ghanian beef/chicken dish). For dessert, brigadeiros, a type of Brazilian chocolate bar, and rote grtze, a German treat of tapioca and fresh fruit, will be served. Beverages include international punch and coffee. More than 50 students will provide a variety of international entertainment during dinner, including the Sambistas, Lawrence's percussion ensemble, traditional African, Caribbean, Latin American and Israeli dancers, two Chinese singers accompanied by a piano and a Native American Indian ceremonial demonstration. Closing out the evening is an international fashion show with Lawrence students modeling traditional clothing from their native lands.
