Stravinsky's highly rhythmic and innovative series of "choreographic Russian scenes," written during the war years of 1914-18 and premiered in Paris in 1923, is scored for chorus and soloists, accompanied by a large battery of percussion instruments and four pianos. Lawrence faculty members Patrice Michaels Bedi, soprano, and Kenneth Bozeman, tenor, will be joined by guest artists Karen Brunssen, mezzo-soprano, and Richard Cohn, baritone, in the solo roles. Performing the four piano parts will be Lawrence faculty members Robert Below, Christina Dahl, Kathleen Murray and Lorna Peters. Seven Lawrence students will perform on seventeen percussion instruments to complete the instrumental ensemble. Also featured on the program will be the Neue Liebeslieder Waltzer, op. 65 of Johannes Brahms. Two Lawrence students, Catherine Walby and Erin Fusco, will accompany on pianos. -30- CONTACT: John Zimmer, Public Events Manager (414) 832-6589
